Make Room

"The reason many of us can't move beyond surface level change is we're living a life of surface level Christianity."

 

God is inviting us to go to a deeper place. He desperately wants to come into our lives and bring freedom and healing to the deep wounds of our past. But we have to allow him access to those places. We have to 'make room' for Him to move in our lives.

 

On this episode Pastor Randy encourages us to make room for the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives, even the mundane. What would happen if we made room for Jesus, not just in the 'big stuff', but also in our household chores, our commute, our everyday tasks?

Winning Culture (Week 8) Loving Union with the Father

In this episode Pastor Randy encourages us to develop a 'loving union' with the Father. EVERYTHING ELSE will flow from that relationship. The truth is, until we get that right, nothing else can be right. So many Christ followers are leading and living on empty. We're trying to live fulfilled lives, but operating out of a deficit.

 

Author and Pastor Pete Scazzerro says this, “Spiritual deficits reveal themselves in too much activity. Unhealthy people engage in more activities than their combined spiritual, physical, and emotional reserves can sustain. They give out for God more than they receive from Him. They serve others in order share the joy of Christ, but that joy remains elusive to themselves. In their more honest moments, they admit that their cup with God is empty or, at best, half full, hardly overflowing…”

 

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be empty or half full. It's time to win culture by opening the doors to our hearts wide open, allowing the Holy Spirit uninhibited access to every area of our lives, so we can once again minister and live out of the overflow.

Winning Culture (Week 7) Light of the World

Pastor Bill Johnson is quoted as saying, “Light is always superior to darkness and darkness is always inferior to light.” What a powerful truth! 

 

The cousin of Jesus tells us in John 1:4-5  - "In him [Jesus] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

 

With little to no effort we fall into what psychologists call "negative bias", where we hyper focus on the negative (darkness) and ignore the positive (light).  But as dark as it is all around us, the light of God shines through, and the darkness cannot, will not, and "has not overcome it" (to quote John).

 

On this episode Pastor Randy encourages us to be the light in someone's life.

Winning Culture (Week 6) Right Standing With God

What does it mean to be 'in right standing with God'? Is it something we earn by doing good deeds? If so, where the line? At what point do we perform enough good deeds to be in right standing with God? At what point do we fall short of 'just enough'?

The truth is, because God's standard is perfection, we can never do enough good to be in right standing with God. 

On this episode Pastor Randy explains, how the only way we can be in right standing with God (or righteous, as the Bible calls it) is by believing and accepting what Jesus did for us on the cross.

Winning Culture (Week 5) Choose Joy

Can you think of a time in your life where your peace and joy were more under attack? Everywhere we turn, we're faced with more chaos. While the media feeds on our innate desire for the negative, God is calling us to begin to think differently. Scripture says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. If we lose our joy, we lose our ability to fight. Maybe the reason some of us fail more often than we should is, we've lost our joy?

 

On this episode Pastor Randy reminds us that true joy is found in Jesus, and encourages us to choose joy, even in the midst of turmoil.

Winning Culture (Week 4) The Peace of God

In a world full of chaos, we could all use a little more peace. On this episode Pastor Randy shares a powerful message on how to receive the peace of God. Part of the answer is found in Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

What would happen if Philippians 4:8 became the filter for everything we do? -

- For everything we listen to?
- For everything we watch?
- For everything we speak?

 Is it true, is it noble, is it right, is it pure, is it lovely, is it admirable, is it excellent, is it praiseworthy?

If we will begin to think about, and speak these types of things we can experience God's peace in the midst of anything we face. 

 Philippians 4:7 -- and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
